A little history…
Safety Observer was born in 2005 and its pricing has not changed much since then. The cost of the subscription for one user was even lowered in 2014 as a gesture towards fellow consultants.
Nevertheless, the service has been enhanced over the years. The structure and presentation of the reports have been adjusted based on feedback received from users. Most importantly, the number of the sources screened has grown significantly, which means that there is more work going into the reports produced.
Over the past year, all clients have been migrated to the new Reading Platform, which provides direct and immediate access to our searchable report library. Additional functionalities have been introduced such as the ToC (Table of Content) Export to ease the clients’ impact assessment.
Safety Observer brings significant and increasing value to its clients through the time it saves in collating and assessing relevant regulatory updates, and ultimately ensure compliance with applicable Pharmacovigilance requirements. However, the pricing applied until now did not sufficiently reflect the value delivered to clients.
As an illustration, there were situations where there was a strong disconnect:
- In the past, clients who had a subscription for 50 and + users could include additional users at zero cost. Clients with several hundred of users were paying the same price as a client with only 50 users.
- In other cases, large Pharma companies or Service Providers purchased a subscription with a minimum number of users, who shared the information with colleagues or with their clients.
The New Pricing brings responses to these issues, aligns Safety Observer with providers of similar services, and considers the significant investment and cost increases over the years.
The main changes are as follows:
- A new “Basic” subscription is introduced. Access to content and functionalities is limited. This subscription can include only one user and remains very affordable.
- The “Advanced” subscription is intended for larger companies with multiple users. It includes access to all contents and functionalities.
- It is no longer possible to buy a 3-Month subscription, and both “Basic” and “Advanced” plans are only available as 1-Year Plans.
- The first tier of “Advanced” subscription includes up to 5 users, which means it is no longer possible to buy a subscription priced for only one user with this level of access.
- The distribution of tiers has been revised to cover all sizes of structures. The price per user still decreases significantly when the number of users grow, but no user comes for free anymore.
- “Highlights” will no longer be made public and will only be available to “Advanced” subscribers.
- The report Headings will be revised slightly to better separate the information accessible in “Basic” and “Advanced” subscription plans. This is presented in detail in our revised Q&As, which clarify the content of each section and include a description of the mapping between former and new sections headings.
Finally, please note that the pricing will be reviewed and may be revised on an annual basis from now on. We remain committed to providing all clients with the highest value and it is expected that the new pricing will support further improvements.
